Marissa Rollnick (Matric 1968) receives top award
Congratulations to Marissa Rollnick (Matric 1968) who recently received the 2018 NARST Distinguished Contribution to Science Education through Research Award. According to the Wits University website, this award recognises scholars who have made contributions to, provided notable leadership in, and had substantial impact on, science education through research over a period of at least 20 years.
Emeritus Professor Rollnick completed her BSc and teaching diploma at Wits University. She thereafter obtained her masters in chemical education at the University of East Anglia and her PhD in 1988 at Wits University.

Susan Gaylard Matric 1991 awarded three fellowships
Susan Gaylard, Associate Professor of Italian Studies at the University of Washington, USA, has been awarded three fellowships for the upcoming year! Professor Gaylard has won the Renaissance Society of America-Kress Bodleian Library fellowship for research at the Bodleian Library at the University of Oxford, this summer. Professor Gaylard has also won a fellowship from the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas, Austin, for archival research next year. She will also be a fellow with the Simpson Center Society of Scholars for the 2017-2018 academic year. All three fellowships will support her current book project, Beautiful Monsters: Erasing women from Renaissance histories. Congratulations to Professor Gaylard!

My journey started, about 12 years ago, at Wits University where I received a B.Com Degree (majoring in Law, Business Finance and Economics), before moving to London were I acquired a Fashion Design qualification at Istituto Marangoni. During this time I took part in the Elle New Talent Competition in 2010, allowing me to launch my clothing label, Mabu49, at South African Fashion Week (SAFW), and then showcasing a second time at SAFW in 2011.
