Foundation Day 2017

March 6, 2017 by Alumni Officer

A very successful Foundation Day was held on Saturday 4 March.

More than 180 Old Roedeanians gathered from all over the world, from places such as Russia, Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia, to celebrate Foundation Day on Saturday 4 March, to celebrate the school’s 114th birthday. Reunion groups across the decades gathered together, and much chatter and laughter filled the air, as old friendships were celebrated and re-kindled. The day started with a chapel service, followed by sports matches between Old Girls and Matrics, followed by the AGM and a delicious lunch.
One of the many highlights of the day was when SAORA donated R100 000 to the Roedean Academy and R20 000 to the Link@Yeoville from funds generated from the garden and craft day fundraiser, A Blooming Affair.
Sue Adams, from 40 Years On, had this to say:
“We are so proud to be part of this strong group of women who look even better than they did 40 years ago and have achieved and continue to achieve in their most interesting lives. What a privilege to be able to maintain these connections and friendships.”
This celebration of friendship, history and tradition, is what makes Roedean and its Old Girls Association so strong, as it culminates in generations of Old Girls sharing a common love and appreciation for Roedean.
